What is the Ideas Challenge?

The One Region Atlanta Ideas Challenge is a Facebook challenge that asked residents of the Greater Atlanta region: How would you use $5,000 to bridge cultures and faiths in your community? More than 150 people responded with their ideas to make Atlanta a more inclusive region.

Three top winners will be paired with a nonprofit to implement their idea with a grant award up to $5,000. First place winner will receive a $500 cash prize. Second and third place winners will receive a $250 cash prize.

Take the Challenge in five (5) easy steps:

1.  Visit the One Region Atlanta Facebook page: 2. Submit your idea to the Challenge question between April 1, 2014 – April 22, 2014 (extended to May 2) 3. Twelve (12) semi-finalists will be chosen by the Judges Panel and invited to a One Region “Ideas Workshop” 4. Six (6) finalists will be chosen to create a 1 minute video that will be posted online

5. The public will vote online and the top 3 winners will be presented with a cash prize and a partnership with a local nonprofit to help transform their idea into reality!

Ideas Challenge Guidelines:
  • Ideas can be submitted Ideas Challenge Facebook application on the One Region Atlanta Facebook page between April 1, 2014 – April 22, 2014. (extended to May 2)
  • Idea submissions must include the participant’s name, submission title and a description (up to 150 words) of an idea that provides a creative and innovative approach to increasing interfaith and/or intercultural understanding within the greater-Atlanta region. Ideas must impact community(ies) within the 23-county region served by The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta. There is no limit to the number of entries participants can submit.

  • Participants under the age of 18 must have written consent from parent/guardian if selected as a semi-finalist.

  • Following the Ideas Workshop, the Judges Panel will choose the top six (6) finalists based on sustainability, implementation, and impact.
  • Six (6) finalists will submit a short video that creatively describes their idea to the public. Videos will be posted to the One Region Atlanta Facebook page.
  • Public voting on the videos will begin in June 2014.
